The 2013 edition of the LOST 118-Mile Endurance Run was a success!  In this seventh annual running of the race, Juan Carlos Sagastume of Guatemala won the Men’s Overall title with a time of 21 hours, 51 minutes, 47 seconds.  Aurora Colorado’s Claire Dorotik won the Women’s Overall title in 28:33:50.  A total of 8 Solo runners completed the course out of a total of 21 starters for a 38% finishing rate.

One two-person team ran – the team of Eric Friedman of Miami and Krystle Martinez of West Palm Beach finished in 20:25:20.

The historic Clewiston Inn has reserved a block of four rooms for race participants at a discounted rate of $129.00 for up to three days – Friday Feb 22 through Sunday Feb 24.  You MUST tell the hotel you are with the race in order to book the room!  Telephone them at 863-983-8151.

The Holiday Inn Express has 6 rooms set aside for runners for Saturday night Feb 23 only (no availability on Friday night) at a discounted price of $149.00 (down from the regular rate of $179.00).  Be sure to tell them you’re with the race!  Telephone number is 863-983-5100.

The Executive Royal motel has two SMOKING rooms left at a rate of $69.99 each.  Call them at 863-983-3141.

Roland Martin’s Resort and Marina is completely booked on Friday and Saturday nights, but they have rooms on Thursday and Sunday evening, with rates from $65 to $88 per night.  Call them at 863-983-3151.

The Best Western motel has rooms on Sunday night only, at a discounted rate of $119.00 (down from $149.00).  Call them at 863-983-3400 and mention the race.

The Start/Finish line will be in the same place as last year – outside the conference room at Roland Martin’s Resort and Marina.  Beginning at 6:00 AM, we will have a short informational meeting and race check-in at the conference room, and then we will start the race promptly at 7:00 AM.  We hope you’re excited – we certainly are!

The updated LOST 2013 Crew Guide and the LOST 2013 Runner Guide have now been posted to the website.  Some slight changes have been made from the 2012 edition – runners will use the road on Leg 2 from Uncle Joe’s Fish Camp to the east side of Moore Haven, and on the east side of the lake at Port Mayaca, runners will run on Hwy 441 for about 3 miles and re-access the levee there.  This means runners will run on the levee instead of running on the road through Canal Point and Pahokee.

Manned aid stations are being finalized this weekend as available volunteers and vehicles are confirmed.  Look for runner information to be e-mailed sometime Sunday evening February 17 or Monday morning February 18.

The race will start at 7:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Roland Martin’s Resort and Marina in Clewiston, Florida.  Roland Martin’s is located on the southwestern side of the lake, and the race will take place on the Herbert Hoover Dike the encircles the lake.  Direction of the race is clockwise, so runners will proceed north to Moore Haven in the first section of the race, and then around through Okeechobee, Port Mayaca, and Pahokee before returning to the starting line.

Complete results for the 2012 race are now posted – just click on the ’2012 Results’ link shown above.  A total of 15 Solo Runners started the race at 7:00 AM on Saturday, February 25th, and nine Solo Runners notched a finish.  Sung Ho Choi of Jacksonville won the Men’s Overall title in 21 hours, 29 minutes, 48 seconds, while Liz Bauer of Plainville GA won the Women’s Overall title in 25:43:37.

Five 2-Person Relay Teams competed, with Jodi Samuels and Traci Phillips of the Chicks With Kicks team running a combined time of 18 hours, 49 minutes, 46 seconds to set a Relay Team Course Record.

Roland Martin’s Resort and Marina in Clewiston is now officially the Start/Finish line of the 2012 LOST 118-Mile Endurance Run!  The Resort is a beautiful facility, and is offering room rates for runners at $78 per night.  There will be a continental-style pre-race breakfast the morning of the race with hot coffee and a selection of danish and such, and there is a nice restaurant for that post-race victory meal afterwards!  No more driving home stinking like a dead alligator – the Resort has hot showers for all runners!

Now that the Start/Finish location has been finalized, aid station locations, course maps, and crew guides can be prepared and posted!  More information will be available here no later than Monday, February 6th!
